Comparing the Film and Gaming Industries
BGSU Wolfe Center

Throughout the last 25 years, Chad W Greene (BFA 1992, BGSU) has been responsible for concept art, 3D modeling, animation, 2D/3D texturing, lighting & compositing, and Art Direction for broadcast animation, video games, and feature films. In addition, he is a fine artist trained in drawing and painting and has been exhibiting his fine artwork in galleries throughout the U.S..

In this ARTalk, Chad will talk about his career in the feature film and gaming industries at giants such as DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Imageworks, and his current position as a Senior Art Director at Microsoft Studios. He will go behind the scenes and share advice about job hunting and expectations for success in these competitive industries.

This lecture is part of the Milestones: Celebrating 25 Years of Digital Arts at BGSU Fall 2017 visiting alumni lecture series.

Film Screening: The Power of Glove

Seed Coworking is one of six venues screening films for the Glass City Film Festival.

We’ll be showing “The Power of Glove” on Saturday, May 19 at 12:30pm.

It is 1989. In an era of Nintendo-mania, toymaker giant Mattel unleashes a bold technological experiment to an eager public. The POWER GLOVE: the first video game controller that allows players to operate Nintendo games with intuitive hand gestures.

Despite immense hype surrounding its release, the product is a critical failure, disappointing thousands of children with its subpar gameplay. Nearly three decades later, however, dedicated fans continue to repurpose the Power Glove for art pieces, hacking projects, electronic music, and more.
