Join us for our local celebration of World Usability Day on November 10th at Packo’s at the Park, 7 South Superior Street, Toledo, Ohio. World Usability Day includes events in over 40 countries around the world, raising awareness about the need for easy to use technology.

Networking begins at 6:30pm. Our guest speaker is Andrew Newby, who will be leading a discussion about “User Expectations – Rise of the Baseline.” He will show us the latest trends in design that are leading to increased conversions.

Andrew tries to keep the balance between marketing and technology at AVATAR, a web software company based in Toledo and San Francisco.

No RSVP required. Just show up and be ready to meet new people, see old friends, engage in informative discussions, eat some Packo’s food, drink some beer, and celebrate World Usability Day with us.

Road trip to Detroit for evening World Usability Day event by the Detroit UX meetup.

We will carpool from the Kroger parking lot (corner of Secor and Monroe), meeting at 5:00 PM. The drive should take 70 minutes. We will park near the Eyeglasses shop. Look for the light blue Honda with license plate "WEB UX".

Save the date for the 4th Pitch and Pour.

Pitch & Pour is an innovative business pitch competition. Pitch and Pour 4.0 will be November 12, 2015, in celebration of World Usability Day.

Teams have five minutes to pitch their business concepts. Any early stage startup can apply, and selected entrepreneurs will be able to pitch their submitted ideas for a chance to win cash and prizes.

A panel of experienced judges will determine the winners.

In addition to the competition, Pitch & Pour is a way to connect startup companies, student entrepreneurs, area business leaders, and investors.

The Detroit Creative Corridor Center is partnering with the College for Creative Studies MFA Interaction Design department, various interaction design companies, and user experience-related community groups. This edition of Drinks x Design is also part of the World Usability Day celebration.
