Immersive Simulation Center - UT Medical Center

Join TNewTech this month for our annual VR meetup, hosted by UT's very own simulation center. You will have the opportunity to demo out all of the follwowing technologies:

o Head Mounted Displays (HMDs) and Distributed Devices

  §  Oculus – 3D Virtual Immersive Reality (VIR)


  §  Hololens – 3D Augmented Reality (AR)


  §  iBench – large 3D tablet

o Curved CAD Wall room

o iCube room – 5 sided 3D VIR space

o Gamefication - serious game simulations

o 3D Printing

TNewTech Meetup
Nitschke Technology Commercialization Complex (U. Toledo)

We are a brand new group, designed to bring together Toledo's coders, technologists, researchers, IT people, .Net/Web/UX developers, e-commerce'ers, students, designers, entrepreneurs, bloggers, etc., interested in tech and innovation. Our aim is to support and encourage all our members, exchange ideas, share/find resources, network and build a community for the benefit of all.

We are hoping to pattern this group after the A2NewTech Meetup in Ann Arbor. As such, we want TNewTech to be for the benefit of, and be run by, the members it attracts and who join the community.

Join us for the next TNewTech event!

Arrive at 5:30pm to network and eat/drink, with the short presentations starting at 6:00pm.

The first Meetup was a success, in that more than 30 people came and connected.

There will be up to 5 individuals or ventures that each get 5 minutes to talk/demo, followed by 5 minutes to answer questions. At the end are open announcements and networking.

  • Dan Paquette will share his experience with 99 designs logo design competition.
  • Kisora Thomas will share some of his innovative ideas and stories of working with and coordinating with a team of developers.
  • Petrichor & Cycle. Beyond just a container deployment and management platform, Cycle does it all. From DNS load balancing and geographic auto scaling to SSL encryption.
  • UT's Norm, Jess and Jordan will share a new program and gateway to funding for community based tech companies.

A lot is being developed in Toledo. On Tuesday January 10th, come see a few new things that are being developed in the NW Ohio area, and in the heart of downtown Toledo.

You won't want to miss this.

Nate Walke, Matthew Molnar, and Kyle Stokes will be talking about Code City, the exciting new code camp launching soon.

Dave Baldwin of CoMilan, a co-working space and incubator in Milan Michigan will be here to update us on what's going on in the entrepreneurial environment up north.

Stuart Bertsch will be sharing about the opportunites in the Inclusive Tech Ecosystems that is TechHire.

PRESENTERS:

SpellBound - a mobile app and publishing platform. The mobile app is how people experience the SpellBound experiences for books. The publishing platform is how we create and share those experiences. We work with organizations, institutions, and individuals who work with, love, and support children ages 3-10.

SPLT Creates a trusted community of carpoolers by matching co-workers to share their ride to work. Employees can see their match prior to accepting the ride and can communicate securely in-app.

ConnecPath - An Ed-Tech company that provides American high school students with AI-driven mobile platform to increase efficiency in their career decisions.

It's almost Summer time, the perfect time to start developing that idea that you've been putting off since the year started. Toledo needs entrepreneurs like you, starting companies, creating new technology, innovating in your community and city.

This month at TNewTech, we've brought in 3 guy's that know what it takes to help kickstart your company and inspire the entrepreneurial spirit.

Roger Tipping: Runs a successful data-driven e-commerce company. Roger has a focus on grasping the technical features and requirements that fit into a company’s "stack" as a business without investing too much time, to be able to maintain a focus on the biz dev/strategy/management side of the operation.

Stuart Bertsch: Stuart is a technologist with two degrees in computer science and 20+ years consulting experience. He has founded tech startups to streamline connections and fix voting. He is working on a third to bring adventures to your life. He has operated multiple retail businesses such as jewelry, Hallmark, trophy, and tee shirt stores. He is also a gemologist, watchmaker, and a goldsmith. Stuart has participated in six startup weeks across the country, including Denver, Boulder, Phoenix, New Orleans, and Cleveland. He has been an I-Corps mentor and has heard pitches from countless startups and consulted with many regarding product, sales, design, and lean strategy. He is co-founder of Tech Toledo, a local company focusing on growing the tech, design, and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Northwest Ohio. Tech Toledo is also the Backbone Operator for the Northwest Ohio TechHire initiative, building a tech talent pipeline matching non-traditional students with non-traditional training, all aligned with local employer job openings. Stuart Lives in Toledo and has two grown sons. He consults nationwide while working on his own startups.

Jason Daniels: A visionary leader and master collaborator who recognizes the value of working in diverse and inclusive communities with a defined record of leadership excellence within places of work and community. Repeated success leading new ventures from incubation through full-scale execution, robust knowledge in the areas of individual, civic and community engagement, local and national partnerships, and advancing philanthropic effectiveness. Entrepreneurship has taught me the importance of grit and agility.
