BGSU E-Week: The Hatch
BGSU Stroh Center

The entrepreneurial spirit comes alive at Bowling Green State University this week as we celebrate innovation in business with a host of interactive events and activities.

Students have the unique opportunity to launch a business with the assistance of a business start-up program called "The Hatch." If selected as a Hatchling through an application process, students work on a business presentation with an alumni mentor for ten weeks. The aspiring entrepreneurs then face a panel of investors, along with a live audience, and pitch their ideas in hopes of obtaining funding to “hatch” their venture, similar to the television show "Shark Tank."

Free and open to the public: however registration is required.

BGSU student entrepreneurs will present their business ideas to alumni investors during The Hatch on April 6, vying for funds to launch their businesses in a format similar to the popular television show “Shark Tank.” This event is streamed to Hatch Watch parties across the country and to several countries throughout the world.

What sets The Hatch apart from similar events is that the alumni investors make equity investments providing real money for students to launch real businesses. To date, more than $500,000 have been committed to student startups.

The BGSU Entrepreneurship Week is filled with a series of events including The Hatch, and our grand finale, the Sebo Series in Entrepreneurship. There are many opportunities to engage with the College of Business through lunch and learns, panel discussions and presentations from world-renowned speakers.
