TOPIC: SQL 2014 In-Memory OLTP

SQL Server 2014 has added In-Memory OLTP capabilities that provide new high-end performance for mission critical applications. This session will describe the new in-memory features and the table and stored procedure changes to support in-memory. We will review the new in-memory architecture that has been added to the SQL Server database engine and show a few demos that illustrate the tremendous performance gains SQL Server 2014 delivers.

SPEAKER: Rick Brewis. Rick Brewis is a veteran of Microsoft for over nine years. He is a Technology specialist focusing on SQL Server, Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and beginning a journey into Big Data and cloud computing. Rick has worked in the database arena for Oracle Corporation, Digital Equipment, and also has experience with Sybase, Ingres, and database management and development tools.

TOPIC: Top 10 Issues Identified By SQL Health Checks

Topic: Introduction to AlwaysOn Availability Groups

One of the most talked about new features in Microsoft SQL Server is AlwaysOn Availability Groups. In this session, we'll cover the pros and cons of using Availability Groups as well as the basics of how to set them up and take advantage of readable secondary replicas. If you want to improve the availability and performance of your applications and databases, are currently using Database Mirroring, or if you're just curious about Availability Groups, then you won't want to miss this session.

Topic: SSIS Templates Can Make Your Life Easier

How many times have you started a new SSIS project and added the same components that you’ve added to almost every other package you’ve created? Components to handle logging and errors or even a standard workflow for loading data files. In this session I’ll show you how you can create standard templates that already contain any and all of the common components you desire. We’ll also look at how to implement and use these templates so that the next time you create a SSIS package you can spend your time on the work you actually need to do instead of implementing common components over and over again. Finally we’ll take an introductory look at BIML (Business Intelligence Markup Language) and discover how you can dynamically generate SSIS packages.
