Reporting on Information Security Risk to your Executives
Nitschke Technology Commercialization Complex (U. Toledo)

Times have changed. In the “old days,” Infosec was rarely asked to the table to report to executives on Information Security Risk. The ever-changing landscape around Cyber Risk has forced this issue to be front and center on the minds of Executives and Boards of Directors. While this recognition has been what security professional have been asking for, they often struggle on how to communicate to the business. They feel compelled to present fancy dashboards with lots of data. This type of approach often leaves their company’s leadership with low levels of understanding when it comes to risk. In this presentation, Ethan Steiger will demonstrate an effective way to communicate the business problems around cyber risk. He will highlight real examples of how he tells the story to gain the confidence of C-level and Board Level executives while at the same time ensuring that he is communicating on the significant risk that this audience needs to aware of."

Bio - Ethan Steiger is the Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Domino’s Pizza. where his department is entirely responsible for the company’s global security program. Ethan’s background includes over 25 years of experience working with complex computing systems and at least 20 years of direct security industry expertise. Prior to joining Domino’s, Ethan worked as the Chief Security Officer of R. L. Polk & Co. where he designed a state of the art security program. In that capacity, he was able to achieve ISO 27001 certification for Polk. This represents the gold standard of security accreditation. Earlier in his career, Ethan was a Security Architect with RSA Security. While at RSA, he implemented cryptographic systems at a wide array of customers such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas City, Kerr-McGee, and Visa. He has also served as an IT Consultant with CapGemini and first cut his teeth as a network engineer at Bear Stearns & Co. Ethan Steiger is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in History and Computer Science. With Cyber Security on everyone’s mind, Ethan has the significant challenge of leading his team in helping safeguard Domino’s business. Ethan and his team loose sleep occasionally but are rewarded by keeping hackers outside while ensuring that Domino’s data stays inside. When Ethan is not busy protecting Domino’s he is enjoying the good life in Ann Arbor with his wife, Simona and their three children
