CoderDojo this week will be meeting at MVCDS to participate in their GlassHacks event.

CoderDojo is a global movement of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. At a Dojo, young people, between 7 and 17, learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and explore technology in an informal and creative environment.

In addition to learning to code, attendees meet like-minded people and are exposed to the possibilities of technology. Within the CoderDojo Movement, there is a focus on community, peer learning, youth mentoring and self-led learning, with an emphasis on showing how coding is a force for change in the world.

GlassHacks will be a 24 hour hackathon hosted at Maumee Valley Country Day School, open to high school students across the country.

Including volunteers, mentors, judges, sponsors, and students, we expect over 120 attendees.

The event is open to EVERYONE, regardless of prior experience! We expect skilled individuals as well as beginners with little to no experience. Our goal is to offer as many learning opportunities throughout the event as possible. This includes workshops, contests, and, of course, speakers. We'll provide nearly everything you could possibly need to have an incredible hacking experience. Expect great prizes, cool T-shirts, and lots more.

Hackathons are 24 to 36 hour events where teams of students (experienced AND beginner) work together to build cool projects in both software and hardware.

GlassHacks has been canceled for March 3-4 due to lack of support.
