Live coding: Using a shared theme and resources across mobile and the web
Brady Innovation Center, UT College of Engineering

We'll live code a mobile and web app that shares a theme and resources, as well as adjusts its layout according to screen size.

If enough people RSVP, we'll get pizza and refreshments for attendees.

The event will also be live streamed. Stay tuned for the link.

Flutter: Beyond Hello World
Brady Innovation Center, UT College of Engineering

Join us for a guest lecture from Scott Stoll, co-owner of the Flutter study group and co-creator of the Flutter Zone podcast.

You can find Hello World and ListView tutorials all over the web. (In Flutter, they're pretty much the same thing.) But here we'll take a look at things on a little deeper level.

We'll look at how Flutter differs from other cross platform approaches such as React Native or Xamarin and how the new Dart 2.0 is practically tailor made for the Flutter framework. We'll look at the way Flutter's UI widgets code is structured, so it wont' look so strange and intimidating anymore. We'll talk about how you can unit test a UI in Flutter and then we can go over a few "Pitfalls and Brick Walls" that everyone seems to run into.

And along the way we can hopefully clear some commonly held misconceptions and a few wild rumors.
