Best Practices in Business Analytics

Learn best practices for trend analysis, forecasting, and data mining from experts in the field. Keynote speaker is Ashwin Patil, who leads Analytics and Information Management for Automotive, Process and Industrial Products at Deloitte Consulting, LLP.

A best practices panel includes the following experts: Joe Gottron, SVP, CIO, Pharmaceutical Segment, Cardinal Health; Jim Albert, BGSU Professor, Mathematics and Statistics Department; and Ed White, BGSU Executive-in-Residence, former CFO of Owens-Illinois.

Luncheon speaker is Mike Hoskins '77, CTO and Executive V.P., Pervasive Software and General Manager, Big Data Products and Solutions.

Also included is a panel discussion by Jim Albert, Ph.D., Professor of Statistics, BGSU; Miriam Krause, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor, Communication Sciences and Disorders, BGSU; and Andrew M. Schocket, Ph.D., Director, American Culture Studies and Associate Professor of History and American Culture Studies, BGSU.

Alan Schwarz’s specialty is the integration of probability and statistics into narrative and investigative reporting. Author of The Numbers Game, a best-selling history of baseball statistics, Schwarz speaks to groups across the nation about the power of mathematics in storytelling.

Schwarz is best known for his four-year series that exposed the seriousness of concussions among athletes of all ages. His investigative pieces are generally seen as having revolutionized the respect and protocol for head injuries in almost every major youth and professional sport.
