Irresistible: The Rise of Addictive Technology and the Business of Keeping Us Hooked

More Information:

Community members are invited to hear Adam Alter speak at BGSU on October 8th.

Adam is the author of “Irresistible: The Rise of Addictive Technology and the Business of Keeping Us Hooked” (which is this year’s common read at BGSU).

Irresistible is a fascinating, engaging read that takes readers through numerous psychological and marketing experiments, illustrates relationships between physical and behavioral addictions, offers advice for all of us, opens the door for healthy debate—and much, much more.

In this revolutionary book, Adam Alter tracks the rise of behavioral addiction, and explains why so many of today's products are irresistible. Though these miraculous products melt the miles that separate people across the globe, their extraordinary and sometimes damaging magnetism is no accident. The companies that design these products tweak them over time until they become almost impossible to resist.

Adam Alter’s presentation is scheduled from 7:30-9:15 PM and will include a Q&A from the audience and a book signing. Please note that the doors to the Ballroom will open at 7:10 PM.

Parking for Community Members: Please note that you may park in Lot 7, which is next to the Student Union and which can be accessed from Thurstin St. If this lot becomes filled, you may park in Lots E or F, both of which also can be accessed from Thurstin.
