More Information:

The University of Toledo is pleased to announce the fourth annual conference on sustainability for institutions of higher learning in Northwest Ohio. Participation is also welcome from regional industries and agencies, and anyone interested in learning more about sustainable practices, education and research.

This conference provides a forum to share approaches, successes and lessons learned. Targeted outcomes are new collaborations and insights that help us move our institutions forward in achieving sustainable campuses and communities. The conference is organized around four tracks:

University initiatives. Presentations will address past, current and projected activities to green our campuses. Success stories, pitfalls, and opportunities will be shared.

Sustainable pedagogy. The multi-disciplinary nature of sustainability presents pedagogical challenges, while the need and value of student understanding of key issues is increasing. Presentations will consider successful approaches, lessons learned, and useful tools.

Sustainability research. Achieving sustainable societies requires new information garnered throughout our universities and colleges. Industry, agencies and communities also have much to contribute as we develop tools, measure effectiveness, and explore opportunities for implementation.

Student contributions. Students will make unique contributions to this conference, particularly from the perspective of active involvement in bringing about rapid change. This student organized track will offer much to students, and also should be of great interest to all in learning of the potential contributions of our current students and future leaders.
