GTAC-ATD tour of Toledo Technology Academy
The Greater Toledo Area Chapter (GTAC) of the Association for Talent Development (ATD) invites you to our March Monthly Program, which is a tour.
The Toledo Technology Academy (TTA) is a four-year Toledo Public Schools high school. This small school is one of the “gems” in the public education system. Many students from surrounding suburban school districts as well as private schools attend TTA as their preferred educational choice. Toledo Technology Academy students study manufacturing engineering science technology integrated with a rigorous academic environment.
Toledo Technology Academy (TTA) began as a two-year program within a traditional high school. In 1997 a collaborative partnership was formed with the school system, teaching and administrative unions, area businesses and many trade unions including the United Auto Workers, and a four-year high school was opened. What was found at that time continues to be true today. Technology, manufacturing, and engineering continue to be one of Toledo’s largest opportunities for growth. TTA has grown to 300+/- students across six grade levels. The challenge now is to grow the school through offering a curriculum, which prepares students for careers in the technologies, which will be the growth areas in the 21st century global economy. Toledo Technology Academy (TTA), Toledo Public Schools’ 8th public high school, is currently recognized across the state of Ohio as well as the nation for academic excellence coupled with an award winning technology program.
The tour will be led by Gary Thompson. Gary Thompson is the Director of TTA. Thompson attended Lourdes College (now University) and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Business/Human Resource Management. Thompson has a Master of Educational Technology degree from the University of Toledo. Before coming to TTA, he was employed by General Motors and the UAW as a Technical Training Coordinator and Human Resource Development Internal Consultant.
- 7:30 am – Registration and Breakfast (includes French Toast Breakfast from Oasis: French Toast with Maple Syrup, Scrambled Eggs, Orange Juice and Coffee)

- 8:15 – 9:15 am - Tour
